Liverpool Alerted as Bundesliga Talent Reveals Intention to Make Premier League Move
Liverpool target Lewis Holtby admits he wants to play in the Premier League.
The 21-year-old Schalke midfielder has an English father, Chris, and has regularly been linked with a move to the Premier League.
Liverpool are reported to have tracked the youngster, who has won two caps for his country, although no bid has yet been made.
And Holtby says he does not know what his next move will be, although he insists he will definitely play in the Premier League one day.
“I am very happy in Schalke. But I would be lying if I said I will definitely extend may contract,” he told Bild. “My dream was always the Premier League – and someday I will make this step.”
Brendan Rodgers may wish to follow up Liverpool’s apparent interest in Schalke midfielder Holtby as it seems fairly obvious that the young German international would welcome a move to the Premier League and even though the 21 year old is reportedly an Everton fan that may not prevent his interest in making an Anfield move.
The young Schalke man has an English father and this may well play a part in his obvious interest in a move to the Premier League and the German starlet may well fit the bill as Rodgers looks to continue the club’s youthful transfer policy.
Having seen Maxi Rodriguez and Dirk Kuyt leave the club and with reports of Craig Bellamy said to be possibly heading to Cardiff City it seems that the Merseyside club are going through something of a clear-out. The future of loaned out pair Joe Cole and Alberto Aquilani is still seemingly up in the air so perhaps there is room to bring in another midfield option such as Holtby.
Schalke boss Huub Stevens has stated his intention to keep his top talents but having seen Raul leave the club with the likes of Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and captain Benedikt Howedes being strongly linked with exits from the Gelsenkirchen club perhaps Holtby is looking to force a move away from the Bundesliga side in the near future.
